Health and Safety Advisor

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety practitioner to join our Health and Safety team.

At WEL Networks, we’ve been providing a highly reliable electricity supply to the Waikato for 100 years. Based in Hamilton, we play an essential role in the region’s development by delivering innovative energy solutions, which enable our communities to thrive while keeping the lights on 24/7. We provide a fully integrated electricity network management service which includes planning, design, delivery and operation.

We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Advisor to support our Health and Safety team. Our successful candidate will assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of effective Health, Safety and Wellbeing management systems, processes and procedures. They will also provide Health and Safety advice, training and development, and contribute to continuous improvement in support of company objectives.  

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong commitment to ensuring the Health and Safety of themselves, their co-workers and the public who use our network

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the willingness to coach and support others

  • A National Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Co-ordination) (Level 4)

  • Proven experience in the Health and Safety domain with a minimum of 3 years on-the-job experience in an Health and Safety role

  • Sound knowledge of the electrical distribution industry

  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and legislation, regulations, standards and international good practice relating to industry safety requirements
